Home/Joint Student Group [Habitat For
Humanity]
The Joint Student Group is a collaboration with students from San Diego State and the New School of Architecture to design and build a sustainable, LEED-Certified home for a low-income family alongside Habitat For Humanity. This past Spring Quarter, the Global TIES team was inroduced to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and the different steps that are necessary to construct a LEED-compliant house. Over the summer, Global TIES intern David La furthered the group's work while conducting additional research on sustainable practices for home construction.

The team plans to break
ground in March/April 2011. This quarter, the team will
organize a design charette involving students as well as
members of Habitat for Humanity and other design professionals
to earn LEED points and develop an integrated design
team
