In ENG 100D (4 credits), students learn the fundamentals of human-centered design in a humanitarian context. Students work with a non-profit client for a single quarter to lay the foundation for a humanitarian project. Certain projects are then carried out over the course of a few quarters to a few years by students enrolled in 100L.
Enroll on WebReg. All majors welcome. No prerequisites necessary.
In ENG 100L (2 credits), student teams work alongside a non-profit partner to develop and implement a humanitarian project. Each team is a separate section of 100L. The course may be taken up to six times for a letter grade. 100D is a corequisite for 100L. 100D may be taken concurrently with your first 100L course, or you may take 100D then join a 100L project in a future quarter.
All students interested in being a part of a 100L team should check out the current projects. Consider which ones best fit your interests and course of study. During the registration process, you will be asked to rank your project preferences.
This brief application provides Global TIES with information needed to select team members based on preferences and project needs. After your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email advising you of your status. If accepted, this email will include the information you need to register for your Global TIES project.
If you would like to switch teams after you have applied and been accepted, please send an email to mbratton@eng.ucsd.edu stating which team you're on, which team you wish to switch to, and why you would like to switch.
